The Rio Toachi is located on the western slope of the Andes of Ecuador and has beautiful sub-tropical forest waiting for you.

We depart Quito for Santo Domingo at 7:00 am, on a two and a half hour route through Ecuador's Andean cloudforest. We put-in near the town of Santo Domingo, and after a safety briefing we run 20 km of white water! Depending on the water level, the trip should take us about three hours down the river. On our way we will encounter spectacular rainforest, an abundance of birdlife, and possibly the Southern River Otter. We will spend the evening at a local hotel or camp.

Bigger rapids and waves make for another thrilling day. We will run the forbidden Sapos Gorge which involves a series of uninterrumpted class III+ whitewater rapids. At the end of this run we will have lunch and then head back to Quito, arriving in the late afternoon.
