in Machala you must go to nice Jambeli beach, 45 minutes from
Machala by boat.

on the left side of the vehicle, the canyon that takes you to
the lowlands is breath-taking!

Piñas,
Zaruma y Portovelo, 3 forgotten cities, will make you feel you are
in the begining of the last century. |
Zaruma
is hidden high in the mountainside, it's an old Spanish mining
town.

From
Zaruma you can follow the old route to Loja, this is another unfrequented
route. |
Sit
on the right hand side of the vehicle. Visit Podocarpus National
Park, lots of lakes. |

and see the Saraguros indiginous ancestral village on the way.

See
Cuenca by night. |

forests in the world. Take a tent with you. |

in Latacunga go toward Zumbahua in order to reach Quilotoa lake.
From there to Chugchilan will be easy.

Quilotoa,
impresive lake at 3600 mts above sea level. On a sunny day the color
of the water will change. You can camp here.

Chugchilan
is a village lost in the Ecuadorian Andes. Follow road to Sigchos,
from there to Lasso. |
There
aren't many buses in this area. Lots of treks around Chugchilan.
One of the most beautiful circuits in Ecuador!

Refugio (Hut)
|
On
the way to this important snow-capped mountains in Ecuador you'll
see the others: Cotopaxi, Illinizas, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Carihuairazo.
|
From
Ambato to the Chimborazo hut you will see amazing multicolor fields.
Do not forget to bring a good sleeping bag (and a bottle of aspirin!)
because you will sleep at 5000 mts above sea level.

Walk
around the refugio and you will feel the altitude. Road down to
Riobamba is impresive. |
San
Juan, Penipe, Quimiag will be the little villages you will pass
by on your way to Baños.

the Zoo as well as the thermal baths. La Cascada de la Virgen is
quite impresive. |
Visit
the Salasaca market on the way, between Baños and Ambato. |
