Ecuador Trekking the Condor Flight, Unforgettable Expeditions proudly presents its new trekking itinerary which traverse the most spectacular landscapes and mountain profiles in the country.
No other company did before, and some day this will be a classic trek in the Ecuadorian Andes. Due to the trajectory to be followed in the next days, most of the highest peaks of the famous "Volcanoes Avenue" will be seen. We will follow the traces of Whilheim Reiss who in 1872 approaches to Cotopaxi’s base for the first climb.
This is a relatively easy going and very scenery trek, it helps as training and acclimatization for prominent and major peaks, The possibility of climbing Iliniza North is considered. For the hiker or soft climber, North peak is a truly fun climb with some heart stopping scrambles thrown in. Condor, deer, wolves and other small animals are frequently found as well as evergreen valleys. We really tell you, this is the best choice to trek in the Andes
Day 1. We depart from Quito in the direction to Volcano Pasochoa, where our trekking begins. As we walk up hill towards it summit (4200m) we will enjoy the gorges views of the neighbors peaks such as Antizana, Rumiñahui and Cotopaxi which present their best profile .. We will head Southern on a easy going trail along the crater edge of this extinct volcano, Condors and other birds of pray are often seen before we descend in a green valley where our stuff will be waiting for us for dinner. Overnight in tents. Day 2. Today our walk is rather flat, we will go towards the Cotopaxi National Park and explore its North boundaries, we will visit the Pre-Inca ruins of El Salitre while enjoying magnificent views of Cotopaxi Glaciers. Afterwards we will continue to Limpiopungo valley and lake, few minutes later we will reach our campsite located in the middle of Cotopaxi and Rumiñahui volcanoes. Diner and overnight in tents.
Day 3. Today is the longest day of our trekking tour. We will walk along a trail, up and down folowing the flanks of Rumiñahui peak observing birds of prey and in the horizon the mighty Chimborazo, and Ilinizas until we reach our campsite in the western boundaries of the National Park. Diner and campsite. Day 4: After breakfast we will keep on our trail and leave the Cotopaxi Park to pass by the old Rail Road Station. Following West direction we will traverse some crops and farms as well as wooded areas, observing the locals at their farm duties, until we reach a nice old Hacienda at the base of Iliniza Peak. Overnight in Hacienda . Day 5: Today we can either drive our 4x4 vehicle to the parking place and walk up hill to the settle of Ilinizas and summit the North peak which is rather easy and recommended as training for those who will attempt Cotopaxi, or continue our trekking up hills in west direction along the slopes of Corazón peak .
